We do not have to say that the next game of the Forza Horizon series wants to beat the previous games with more cars, a much larger gameworld, scale, technique and the fun to play the game. We had the great luck to test the XBox One version and to drive through the Outback to see as much as possible of this great Open-World-Racing-Game. In this part of the series we are now in australia after we have been in the previous games in Colorado and Europe to celebrate a new Horizon-Festival. In the previous games we had the opportunity to play the known typical career from the beginners to be the next Champion. This time it is a different thing. This time you play the role of an event organizer to organize Festivals. Unfortunately, this is not the deepest going story but there has to be one. We do not want to talk more about this at this point. The game’s strengths are somewhere else.

The new Horizon-Game is build on the same principles like the two before. The driving physics of the game series in an open world with tons of different and varied tasks and other drivers. The central points are the festivals, which get bigger and get new fans if you win races. Players also get experience points and credits. You need experience points for new tasks. For the credits you can get new cars, upgrades and designs.

What we love and what we noticed very quickly is that the game focuses on action. That also means the the games driving physics has been toned. What we like is that the off-road driving is very pleasant. We also like it that you can adapt the difficulty level to your own abilities. You can turn the racing line, driving assistance such as traction control, ABS and stability system, the strength of the opponents and the damage system on or off. We love it that so called casual racer but also ambitious drivers will have a lot of fun with this game. Not only Pro racing gamer will have a lot of fun to drive with more than 450 cars and to adjust them in many different ways.

Then more spectacular you drive, then more rewards you get and it is not necessary if you racing against other or you doing a free ride through the area. You can get skill and experience points for drifts, near-misses, for driving in the slipstream, jumps and destructions. Like in other games it is possible to combine these all for longer combos and to activate the multiplicator. What we like is that the game analyze your style of driving. These dates will be used to create Drivatars for other players. These all helps that the rides you have to do to get from one event to the other are exciting, too.

The areal of the Australia’s Horizon is divided into four different part. Each of them has his own Festival Headquarter. What we like is that they all reachable from the beginning. You start in the city called Byron Bay with his great varied surroundings. This includes different beaches, cliffs, dense rainforests and cute villages. The Touring-Center is Surfer’s Paradise in the north with skyscraper. Yarra Valley offers a typical Australia and is a great change from the already called areas. For a good orientation you can use the map in the menu. In addition to that you have a very intelligent navigation system called  Anna. You can control her very uncomplicated with the control pad. The fast travel feature allows you only to travel to the festivals. Here you get access to your vehicle fleet, edit vehicles and also buy and sell them. You have to reach the rest objectives via car. This means you have to choose your tasks and routes very smart if you do not want to spend the most of the time to reach this points. We noticed that the map and track design is very conceived and provides visual and driving skill variety.

Like we said before, this game is packed full with different tasks which you can find across the virtual Australia. You can drive lap races on specified courses, street races with and without traffic, Championships, battles against rivals and five spectacular show races. In this show races you for example drive against Powerboats or Jets. We love it that the developers placed on the ways from one festival to another a huge number of some speed camera zones, drift zones, various hidden and destructive signs and danger signs for daring jumps. You can also find a lot of well known streets, landmarks and viewpoints. We also had a lot of fun to play the special task which are very different from the usually races. In this tasks you have for example to destroy a construction, drive in top speeds, do some drifts or to race against the clock in predetermined vehicles and different conditions. We think that it is very motivating that our results are shared with friends who can challenge you in this tasks. It is also possible to create and share responsibilities to own conditions.

What we like is that players have the opportunity to play a huge number of races. This also means that you can drive the most of the races with the same car that could be a for example your favorite and do not have to choose one of a special class. You will drive against cars that has nearly the same power. This power is defined by credit points. We like it that the tasks are very varied and there are such much of them that this game offers for a normal playing through 15 up to 20 hours. If you want to complete all tasks you have to plan with much more hours. What we like is that this gamers offers a huge motivation, too, if you start to play the online mode and in addition to that begin to optimize your cars and combine this with to design them.

What we love is that the great Drivatar-System give us the feeling of never being alone even if you play the solo-campagne. In addition to that we like it that these Drivatar are not so much individual as it seems. We can confirm that they drive very normal which means that they stand out neither positively nor negatively. Yes, they are a little bit aggressive, but we think this is normal for a racing game. What we also like is that you have a team that includes four Drivatars. Your get profit by their skills and achieved status.

We love it that there is a huge number of events additional in the game’s Online-Mode. In these you also get tons of rewards. You also can play these events for example in the Co-Op-Mode with your friends. There is also the online-adventure-mode. In this you drive against the clock from one event to the another one. It is also possible to drive only against players of your choice in private races. We like it that the Multiplayer-Mode offers a huge number of funny races. You can play for example the King Game. In this mode you are the king as long as you get rammed by another player. The player that could keep the crone for the longest time wins the match.

We like it very much that they also support the community of this game. You can share and deal with your created cars, you can in addition to second hand cars also buy and sell tons of data and results. The developer will add more races, challenges and DLCs in the so called Forzathon.

What we love is that with the number of more than 450 cars the game offers a huge range of different cars for everyone. We like it that this game includes most of the well known names of the car industry like Ferrari, Lamborghini, Aston Martin, Pagani, Königsegg, McLaren, BMW, Mercedes, Audi, Ford, Jaguar, Exoten. We can not confirm this but we believe that no other racing game offers such a huge number of cars you can choose from.

And they did not stop at this point. In addition to the fantastic look of this game we noticed that this game has a heart for details. In the game’s Forzavista-Mode you can take a look at the cars from every perspective. In addition to that you can get various information, change optical parts such as wheels and spoilers, open doors, take a seat in the car, start it, do a test drive or you can just simply search for only a customized sound for the horn.

The photo mode which can be started while you play the game offers features you know from other racing games. It is possible to shoot awesome pictures not only of the well designed vehicle but also from the spectacular landscapes. And yes, it is also possible to share them with the community.

And NO….there is much more, like this game would be the racing game with the highest number of features of all time. What we also like are the secrets you can find in barns. These are 15 barns that includes hidden cars. For this you can use the drone. Thanks to this you can explore marked area much faster by your car. We had a lot of fun to find classic cars and to restore them.

The great trip in down under is added by the fantastic look of this game. Players get this great graphics because of awesome day and time effects and weather system that is set in a fantastic look with additional great dynamic lights. We love it how colorful the sky looks when the sun goes down or up, the great reflections on rainy days and the great water effects on the screen. This game offers a high level of details. Not only the cars but also the varied landscapes looks fantastic. The feeling you get by driving in a high speed is awesome. This feeling is so great that it is hard to believe that this game runs constant only with 30 frames per second on the XBox One.

And this is still not the end. The game’s sound are incredible. An old V8 sounds like a V8, you can hear the whistle of the Turbo, the exhausts roaring and are also adjustable because of the tuning. All in all we can say that the sound effects appear realistic and supporting the authenticity of the game. We also like it that the game includes a huge variety of different music styles. Players can listen to genres like classic Rock, Rap, Electro, Sounds of local music artists, Drum’n Bass or even classic music.

The whole Forza Horizon 3 package is incredible. The driving physics matches perfectly to the game’s gameplay which is a awesome mix of action, realism which has been useful adjusted to this series. We believe that there is not a racing game that offers so much like this one. The huge number of cars, the large gameplay world, the free cruising through the landscape, the great number of different modes and tasks you can play on and offline, the high quality technic, the never ending present love for details and the cars they included. We believe that this game is a must have for every racing game fan and XBox One owner. It took a high number of hours to explore the wonderful designed gameworld and a pleasure to hear the great sounds additionally to the great looking game. Yes, we are also fans of realistic racing games, but we think no other game can top this one. We are sure that Forza Horizon 3 is the best racing game of 2016 and has many chance to win best game of this year.
