Logitech G633 Artemis Spectrum 7.1 Surround Gaming-Headset Review

Logitech_G633__1_-pcghThanks to Logitech we have the luck to test their G633 Artemis Spectrum 7.1 Surround Gaming-Headset. This Headset is made of plastic. The complete headset is black but some parts are in matt black and others in shiny black. This brings some great variation into the design. We can confirm that looks great with his high level futuristic design. We think that the G633 is more compact than other headsets we tested before. We think that Logitech tried to keep the Headset as narrow as possible but it has a good reason that the ear cups are bigger than they could be. Hiding in the left auricular, where you can find the microphone, you also have an extensive control panel. In addition to a soft rolling volume wheel there are also three programmable G-keys, a button to mute the microphone, and a switch which allows you to select between the PC and the 3.5mm connection. We think that the design reflects the price.

g633-artemis-spectrum (2)The auriculars also have removable panels on each side. In the regular version, this panels are equipped with an illuminated “G”. We think that Logitech will allow some visual customizing in the near future. Logitech also included two illuminating strips, each on every ear cup. Users can change the colors and animations in Logitech’s Gaming Software. Users can choose in this Software out of 16,8 million colors (RGB). The ear cup can be rotated in 120 degrees.

g633-artemis-spectrum (1)We think that the ear cups’ pads have a good large size and are very soft. The earpads enclose our ears completely. They are also coated with textile. This helps that the Headset is very comfortable. What we love is that it is possible to remove and wash the coat. What we also can confirm is that the complete headset is still comfortable after wearing it for a long time, because the lateral pressure on the ears is very low. That also means that gamers with glasses will not have any problem to wear this headset. What we also like is that the Logitech G633 Artemis Spectrum is very light. We gave this headset a 7 month old child and he could lift it up without any problems. The Headband has a padding, too. This all helps that the G633 do not feel heavy after wearing it for a couple of hours.

.

g633-artemis-spectrumThe microphone-arm is also made of plastic. You can open it out of the ear cup. After that you can pull out the real flexible microphone for a few centimeters. What we like is that this microphone has a LED on it. If you mute the microphone the red LED starts to shine.

.

The package includes not only an USB-Cable. We like it that this cable is three meters long, so it should be enough to connect the G633 even if your PC staying on the floor. You can also find a 1.5 meters long 3.5-mm-jack cable to use the headset for mobile devices. In Addition to that you can connect the G633 to your Xbox Logitech_G633__3_-pcghOne and your PlayStation 4 via jack cable. What we also like is that you can connect the headset to your PlayStation 4 via USB, too. This also allows you to use the headset’s microphone. To use this Headset for the Xbox One you will need the Xbox One headset adapter. The headset’s multifunctionality is especially for players with multiple platforms a very strong positive argument to get the G633.

.

What we like is that the jack cable also offers an operator option. That means that user are able to control the mic, change the volume and start/stop tracks with the help of the remote on this cable. We think that this feature stays exemplary especially for the use of gaming-headsets in the mobile sector. Unfortunately, this headset needs permanent a connection via cable. Users who would like to use this headset wirelessly has to choose the more expensive Logitech G933. What we like is that you can connect the headset with both cables to two different platforms at the same time. If you such as connected the G633 via USB to your computer you can connect it via jack cable to your phone simultaneously. This allows you to answer for example phone calls.

.

Logitech_G633__2_-pcghWhat we also like is that you can configure the buttons on the headset with the help of the software. We love how easy it is to program new commands for the buttons. The software also allows user easy to configure the equalizer, the sensitivity of the mic, the volume, the LEDs and the 7.1-Surround-System. What we like is that you can save two different equalizer-configurations on the headsets Onboard-memory.

.

With Logitech’s own made speakers they did a great job. The 40-mm speakers a very powerful. It does not matter if we hear the sound via USB or jack cable, we get a clear sound all the time. We love the G633’s great sound quality especially if we connect the headset to the PC. This is because of the PC-exclusive Dolby-7.1-Feature which is also adjustable in the Logitech’s Gaming Software. User can set each channel individually or simply select a equalizer-profile. For example, the FPS-Profile sets more power on the bass to emphasize explosions and to give us the feeling of being in the middle of the action. The 7.1-Feature is very helpful especially for MP-Shooters. It is very important to hear the enemies steps and where they came from and the G633 performs this sounds gorgeously.

Logitech_G633__4_-pcgh_b2article_artworkWhat we also like is the headset is also suitable for daily use especially to hear music with it. If you fold the microphone, the G633 does not look like a Gaming Headset. Unfortunately, if you use it without the USB-Cable, the RGB-Lighting stops shining. What we like is that the headset tights external noise very well and convey a consistently good sound.

.

The headset’s microphone is very sensitive which offers a clear voice transmission. Our call partners certified a very clear sound. Unfortunately, the microphone’s noise cancellation is not the best one. Other can hear not only background noises too loud. The biggest problem is that background sounds are always considerably to hear, no matter how far users throttles the mic’s sensitivity.

.

Logitech_G633__3_-pcghOur colleagues we communicated with via Teamspeak and Skype could permanent hear mouse clicks, keystrokes and even sounds from outside of the office. We think that this a no-go especially for a gaming headset, until you want to drive your teammates crazy with keyboard sounds. This is very sad. We hope that Logitech will update this via software to resolve this issue.

.

Logitech’s G633 Artemis Spectrum is definitely not only a Headset for Pro-Gamers who like to use the Macro-System and the 7.1-Surround-Sound. It is also suitable for everyday use. The 7.1-Surround-Sound-Feature offers a great sound and helps to find enemies quickly especially in FPS-Games. We love the mix of quiet and bombastic explosive sound which can be additionally set in Logitech’s Software. This helps to enjoy the games’ great sounds much more. The buttons are great implemented and can be used easily without removing the headset from the users head. If we want to take a break of playing game, we used the switch to hear some music via smartphone. We love the G633’s futuristic design with its RGB-LEDs that gives him a special touch. We love how easy we configure the headset thanks to the great software. The only think we can criticize is the mic’s sensitivity. This headset is not the cheapest one with a prize of $ 149.99/ € 169,99/ GBP 124.99, but it includes a huge range of functions as well as the overall great quality of the sounds. We think that with the G633 you get a lot for your money.
